The Arab Urban Development (AUDI) Institute believe that transformation 2030 vision is primarily articulated through Smart City ‘soft infrastructure’ of local social networks, youth civic empowerment, urban planning legal and cultural systems working in balance with ‘hard infrastructure’ of smart grids, urban mobility, renewable energy, green buildings and innovative system of e-governance.

Accordingly, it launched the “Smart Cities Youth Urban Innovation Initiative” in 2016, with the aim to develop smart and responsive contemporary technology-based services and resilient urban planning and development schemes. This is a seven-month program that aims to raise awareness, provide capacity building, and introduce best results of youth innovation through the Saudi Smart Cities’ Competition.

The program is designed to inspire and support municipal officials as they develop the Saudi Smart City policies and implementation framework for their cities, while engaging the youth in leading Smart City development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
